South Park Tackling Zimmerman-Trayvon Martin Trial in Upcoming Episode

Even in its 17th season, South Park remains an important piece of American culture with its unique, biting, and sometimes gross-beyond-all-comprehension satire. And now one of the biggest news stories of the year will be the subject of an episode. That’s right, the George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin case is coming to South Park.

After episodes dealing with the NSA controversy and the scourge that is Minecraft, this week’s episode, titled “World War Zimmerman,” will tackle the Zimmerman trial, in a plot that involves Eric Cartman tracking down “the ticking time bomb that is Token.”

The show has had plenty of fun taking on race issues before, including the infamous “With Apologies to Jesse Jackson” episode, not to mention almost everything Cartman does.

Also, if you’re looking for some South Park-related humor about the trial of the year/decade/century/millennium, you have to check out this fan-made script on Reddit from a few months ago that pretty much nails how the characters would react to the trial.
