Speaker John Boehner Jokes About Anthony Weiner’s Name In Speech

Speaker of the House John Boehner and Congressman Anthony Weiner don’t share a lot in common, however they are in fact members of one special club together: the funny last name club. Today at a commencement speech at Ohio State University, Boehner made light of this fact in a well-received speech to graduates of the university as he received an honorary degree.

Boehner joked that his own last name has been pronounced to rhyme with the words honor, leaner and even the word “boner.” Yet the money shot came when Boehner followed it up by saying about his last name, “Thank God it’s not Weiner.” And the frequently emotional Boehner even poked a little fun of himself, urging graduates never to be afraid to occasionally shed a tear for everything they are grateful for in life.
