Sports Radio Hosts Learn They’ve Been Fired While Broadcasting Live

Imagine this week’s Today Show fiasco, but worse: During a commercial break, the hosts of sports radio station The Game 87.7 FM learned — via a posting on Twitter — that the company was shutting down and that they were fired.

And then they had to go back on air.

The stunned hosts, Alex Quigley and Ben Finfer, filled up the airtime by reading aloud the Chicago Tribune article detailing the conditions surrounding their firing. “Well, there it is,” said Finfer.

“Why is it so hard to tell your employees that they’re losing their jobs? Why did they have to find out that way?” he continued. “Isn’t there anyone here who has respect for their employees?…We found out on the freakin’ air! What kind of operation is this?!”
