Steve Bannon: WaPo’s Roy Moore Report Shows the Media Is the ‘Opposition Party’
While a large number of Republican lawmakers are distancing themselves from Alabama GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore following a blockbuster Washington Post report that included allegations he pursued relationships with teenage girls when he was in his 30s, some conservatives have come to the ex-Alabama judge’s defense. Perhaps none more so than the folks over at Breitbart.
And it appears that Breitbart chief Steve Bannon is really digging in his heels when it comes to Moore.
At a speech in New Hampshire this evening, the one-time White House strategist compared Thursday’s explosive WaPo story to last year’s leak of the infamous Access Hollywood tape in which now-President Donald Trump was caught bragging about grabbing women “by the pussy.”
“But it’s interesting the [Jeff] Bezos Amazon Washington Post that dropped that dime on Donald Trump is the same Bezos Amazon Washington Post that dropped the dime this afternoon on Judge Roy Moore,” Bannon told the crowd.
He continued, “Now, is that a coincidence? That’s what I mean when I say opposition party, right? It’s purely part of the apparatus of the Democratic Party. They don’t make any bones about it.”
This isn’t the first time Bannon has called the mainstream media the “opposition party” and a wing of the Democratic Party. In fact, early on in Trump’s presidency, POTUS echoed his then-chief strategist’s remarks.
