Susan Sarandon Blasts ‘Hypocrite Obama’ Over Pipeline His Administration Opposed

Oscar-winner and activist Susan Sarandon made quite a name for herself during the Democratic primaries, but even though her candidate Bernie Sanders is out of the presidential race, her work is never done. Sarandon has now set her sights on President Obama, whom she blasted in an interview with RT America at a protest against the Dakota Access Pipeline:

What’s happening here just points out what a hypocrite Obama and all the people that profess to be about the Earth, the climate, you know, how hypocritical it is, because you can’t support fracking, you can’t support this.

As it happens, though, the Obama administration has been supportive of efforts to block the pipeline. Three separate Obama administration agencies sent letters to the Army Corps of Engineers critical of the pipeline, and although the USACoE recently approved the pipeline’s permit, the Sioux have filed a federal suit to block the project, and are calling on President Obama to intervene on their behalf.

Sarandon also made a little bit of Bernie Sanders-world news, as she acknowledged that “chairs were thrown” at the Nevada Democratic Convention, even though it is canon among Sanders supporters that such an event never happened:

If it seems like something that’s going to raise your ratings, I guess that’s what it is. Chairs thrown at the Democratic convention.

Reports of violence at that state convention became a major point of contention in the story of the hacked and leaked DNC emails, in which party officials discussed disseminating the story of violence that Sanders supporters claim never happened.
