T.J. Miller Faces Five Years in Prison For Fake Bomb Threat

Actor T.J. Miller was arrested on Monday night after he drunkenly called in a fake bomb threat while riding an Amtrak train bound for Connecticut, officials said.

The 36-year-old former star of HBO’s Silicon Valley, who appears to be going through something of a difficult time, was arrested at LaGuardia Airport for the March 18 incident.

Per a police press release, Miller called 911 as his train passed through Connecticut and told the dispatcher that a female passenger “has a bomb in her bag.”

Amtrak officials stopped and searched the train, but found no evidence of explosives. Later, it turned out that Miller was on a different train.

The actor reportedly told officials that a woman in the First Class car was acting suspicious around her bag — but an Amtrak attendant painted a different picture.

The attendant said that he “appeared intoxicated upon boarding in Washington, that he consumed multiple drinks on the train, and that he had been removed in New York owing to his intoxication. The attendant also advised that Miller had been involved in hostile exchanges with a woman who was sitting in a different row from him in the first class car.”

Miller was reportedly arrested at Laguardia Airport on Monday night, and released on $100,000 bond this morning. The charge carries a maximum sentence of five years. TMZ obtained security footage of Miller being escorted from the airport:

Miller left Silicon Valley last year over “creative differences,” but a Hollywood Reporter story on the actor’s exit suggested his departure had to do with his substance abuse interfering with the job.

Buzzfeed’s David Mack gave Miller a call to ask him about his fresh legal woes, and stumbled upon the actor’s very peculiar voicemail:
