The Bad Guy From Avatar Is Not The Roots’ Bass Player (Update)

Listen, The Washington Post, we all make mistakes. You correct them, move on. We get it.

But, while the actor Giovanni Ribisi does look like the bass player in The Roots, what made you go ahead and assume they were the same person?

Here’s The Washington Post, identifying the people on stage at a D.C. Earth Day concert:

Yeah, no not Giovanni Ribisi. Actually, it’s Owen Biddle. On Twitter, he found the whole thing pretty funny.

Good point. Meanwhile, Roots bandleader Questlove tweeted this:

journalism at its finest. according to the Washington Post http://bit.ly/9yNJz4 Giovanni Ribisi is our new bass player. #lazyfactcheckers

Ouch! Harsh hashtag. But fair… (And the latest in our series, “Newsworthy Mediaite Story Ideas Questlove Tweeted“.)

As of 12:20pmET, it’s still wrong.

> Update: Well, it’s corrected, sort of. As of 1:35pmET, Ribisi isn’t mentioned but now it just says “The Roots.” Sorry, Owen.
