The Video of Rob Ford Smoking Crack is Here and Doesn’t Match Old Descriptions

When the fabled video of former Toronto Mayor Rob Ford smoking crack was first reported on by Gawker, their John Cook wrote this:

The Toronto Star and Gawker both reported that Ford or someone near him called Justin Trudeau, who is now the Prime Minister, a “faggot.” Ford later admitted to smoking crack, but now that he is dead, the descriptions from the two outlets were all that voters and news consumers had. Today, the video itself came out, and the Star reporter who wrote about the clip was called on to explain why she attributed the f-slur and a quip about “fucking minorities” to Ford. She tweeted this:

Here is the video, which was released today now that Sandro Lisi, Ford’s scofflaw factotum, is no longer involved in legal proceedings:

It’s not exactly savory, but he’s not calling Trudeau a homophobic slur, either.
