These Suggested Post-1994 Election Jokes for Hillary Clinton Are, Uh, Funny
Following the news that Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and her team will be trying to infuse the campaign with more “humor,” BuzzFeed dug up an old memo suggesting jokes for the then-first lady to use in a series of public appearances.
Per author, comedian and Democratic party aide Mark Katz, the one-liners were meant as options for Clinton to use in any speeches she would give following the party’s massive losses in the 1994 midterm elections. They are, to say the least, very outdated, and hopefully not the kind of “humor” Clinton’s current campaign will be making use of. (Though bad dancing is okay.)
Yet Katz managed to contribute a few good ones here and there, and some of them were even downright prophetic in character. Consider his Nostradamus-esque bit about healthcare: “We set out to simplify America’s health care. It’s all there, outlined in Chapter 974 … page 1487 … of Volume six.”
