This Exists: Mom Pulls Gun On Seventh-Grade Volleyball Team
In the “Someone Should Switch to Decaf” news of the day, police in Texas are looking for a woman who pulled a gun on a group of seventh graders. To make matters weirder, the group of girls was a volleyball team and the woman is believed to be the mother of a player on an opposing team that had just been beaten handily by the victims. I guess it’s nice to know your mom supports you, right?
From the Associated Press:
“A woman believed to be the mother of a Texas seventh-grade volleyball player pulled a gun on a rival team celebrating a lopsided win over her daughter’s outmatched squad, officials said Friday.
Girls on the Kirby Middle School volleyball team fled when the woman confronted them with a gun Thursday night in the parking lot and threatened to shoot, Judson school district spokesman James Keith said. No shots were fired and no one was injured.
Authorities believe the woman is the mother of a player from Metzger Middle School, which had just been beaten soundly.”
The Associated Press is also reporting that police are studying security camera footage of the incident. This is, of course, footage that the entirety of YouTube is now awaiting with baited breath. Seriously though, stories like these have to make you question how much pressure competitive sports put on our nation’s children and their parents. However, stories like this also give me a totally legitimate excuse to Google image search “women playing volleyball” so, there’s that.
