This Is What Happens When You Get Drunk and Try to Take the D.C. Subway
D.C. Metro officials are warning all riders to be very careful about drinking before they try to take the Metro, and as if to prove the point, surveillance video of what happens when you drink and ride has been obtained and released by The Washington Post.
One Metro spokesperson says “intoxication was a primary factor” in six different cases of people falling, even falling from escalators, including two in just the past week.
In the video posted by The Washington Post, you can see two separate people falling from Metro escalators, and yet another person walking slowly and falling onto the actual track. Only a few people involved in these incidents have sustained serious injuries; one of the people in the surveillance video was taken to the hospital and treated for head and neck injuries.
