This Violent Brawl in the Stands Dampened the NFL’s Return to Los Angeles
A violent melee in the upper deck of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Saturday marred the first NFL game played in LA since 1994.
Check out the video below, featuring several fans getting into it. Pay particular attention to the guy wearing the white No. 16 jersey of Rams rookie QB Jared Goff. At the :10 mark, the fan starts wailing away with vicious roundhouse lefts and rights.
Youtube user “boRn_N_DA_80s,” who posted the footage, claims in the description that there were several fights in his or her immediate area during the game.
The large number of empty seats suggests that the brawl took place late in the sold-out contest. No definitive word on whether alcohol was involved, but at the :04 mark, you can see a cup flying, which certainly suggests the possibility. If so, the Rams may want to look into cutting off beer sales earlier in the game, because this was dangerous.
