This Was Very Nearly the Coolest NBA Buzzer Beater Ever
This shot did not count. But that doesn’t mean it wasn’t really well executed, and really cool to watch.
With 0.5 seconds remaining in the Charlotte Hornets game against the Detroit Pistons, Hornets guard Marco Belinelli inbounded the ball with his team down one.
Belinelli looked around. None of his teammates were open. So he threw the ball at the backside of Pistons forward Marcus Morris. It bounced back perfectly to Belinelli, who caught it and heaved it toward the basket. It went off the glass…and in!
A truly remarkable shot. The problem? Belinelli didn’t beat the buzzer. The ball left his hands just a tick after the clock hit 0.0.
Still, what a play. Watch it above, via ESPN and Fox Sports Southeast.
