After 6 seasons, Tim Allen’s hit ABC show Last Man Standing was cancelled this year, and Allen has some thoughts as to why.
Allen, himself more conservative than many in Hollywood, played conservative father Mike Baxter on the show. So when the show was cancelled, some people suspected a political motivation behind it (which ABC denied).
Norm Macdonald spoke with Allen this week on Norm Macdonald Live and mentioned the show at one point. That got Allen going, who said the whole thing was “handled badly.”
He touted how well the show did in the ratings, before saying the following:
“I always wanted Last Man Standing to be like Archie Bunker. Archie Bunker pushed boundaries. Carroll O’Connor was not that guy at all. I’m a version of that guy, but… I said there’s nothing more dangerous to me, especially in this climate, than a funny, likable conservative. That was the most dangerous thing… I think there’s nothing more dangerous right now than a likable conservative character.”
