Touchy, Touchy! CNN Reporter Asks WH if Obama Thinks CNN ‘Has a Problem Journalistically’
President Obama knocked ’em dead at Saturday night’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, while emcee Larry Wilmore mainly just died in that nightmare of a room, but both headline acts had some choice barbs for CNN. At least some of those jokes landed hard, if Monday’s White House daily briefing is any indication. After further buttoning down President Obama’s reaction to Larry Wilmore’s routine, CNN White House correspondent Michelle Kosinski got a bigger laugh from the press than Wilmore did by asking Press Secretary Josh Earnest if the President likes them, if he really, really likes them:
Kosinski: One of President Obama’s more cutting jokes was at CNN, so was he saying that he has…
Earnest: Don’t tell me you guys got all sensitive. (laughter) It was all in good fun.
Kosinski: Okay, so he doesn’t think that CNN has a problem journalistically?
Earnest: He doesn’t. (laughter)
Well, at least he didn’t think that before.
At the dinner, President Obama joked that former White House correspondent Jake Tapper had “left journalism to go to CNN.”
