Trump Addresses Muslim Question: I’m Not ‘Morally Obligated to Defend’ Obama
Donald Trump finally spoke out this morning about the man who asked him a rambling question about Muslims and President Obama being one of them.
In response to the man’s question, Trump said, “We’re going to be looking at a lot of different things, and you know, a lot of people are saying that and a lot of people are saying that bad things are happening and we’re going to be looking at that and plenty of other things.”
Of course, Trump’s been getting pilloried for that response, but this morning Trump posted a #longrant on Twitter:
Am I morally obligated to defend the president every time somebody says something bad or controversial about him? I don't think so!

This is the first time in my life that I have caused controversy by NOT saying something.

If someone made a nasty or controversial statement about me to the president, do you really think he would come to my rescue? No chance!

If I would have challenged the man, the media would have accused me of interfering with that man's right of free speech. A no win situation!

Christians need support in our country (and around the world), their religious liberty is at stake! Obama has been horrible, I will be great

(It’s worth noting here that considering how fierce the media reaction has been to that man’s question, they wouldn’t really be attacking Trump on free speech grounds if he did say something.)
