Trump Distances Himself From Cohen: He ‘Represented Me’ With Stormy But ‘I Have So Many Attorneys’

During President Trump‘s explosive interview on Fox & Friends this morning, he seemed put some distance between himself and his personal lawyer, Michael Cohen

As Cohen deals with a federal criminal investigation after having his offices raided by the FBI, Brian Kilmeade asked Trump for his thoughts on the attorney’s legal troubles. Trump dismissed Cohen’s importance by saying “I have so many attorneys you wouldn’t even believe it,” he suggested that Cohen only does “a tiny, tiny little fraction” of his legal work, and said that Cohen’s affairs have nothing to do with him.

“This doesn’t have to do with me. Michael is a businessman. He has got a business. He also practices law…I don’t know his business. But this doesn’t have to do with me. Michael is a businessman. … They’re looking at something having to do with his business and I have nothing to do with his business.”

Interestingly, Trump said that Cohen did represent him with “this crazy Stormy Daniels deal.” The president also said that Cohen shouldn’t plead the Fifth over the Daniels case, and that makes sense, considering how many times Trump said that that’s like admitting one’s guilt.

Worth bearing in mind: Trump previously said he was unaware of Cohen paying Daniels $130,000 to keep her quiet about her alleged affair with the president.
