Trump is Asked If He Deserves Nobel Prize After Prisoner Release: ‘Everyone Thinks So, But I’d Never Say That’
Following his Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, President Donald Trump spoke briefly with the press pool — hours after announcing the release of three American prisoners from North Korea.
Trump seemed amused as he fielded a question about whether he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.
“Everyone thinks so, but I would never say it,” Trump said, smirking. “You know what I want to do? I want to get it finished. The prize I want is victory for the world. Not for even here. I want victory for the world. ‘Cause that’s what we’re talking about. So that’s the only prize I want.”
The president added that his upcoming meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will not take place in the so-called DMZ — the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea. Trump expressed his high hopes for the summit, but warned that it could still be called off.
“Everything can be scuttled,” Trump said. “Lot of things can happen. lot of good things can happen, lot of bad things can happen. I believe that both sides want too negotiate a deal. I think it’s going to be a very successful deal. I think we have a really good shot at making it successful. But lots of things can happen.”
