Trump Lawyer John Dowd Getting the Blame for Drafting Trump’s ‘Sloppy’ Flynn Tweet Yesterday

President Trump‘s lawyer John Dowd is getting the blame for the President’s “sloppy” tweet on Michael Flynn yesterday.
Trump claiming in a tweet that he fired Flynn “because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI” raised questions about the President knowing his national security adviser lied to the FBI before that infamous conversation with James Comey:
I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI. He has pled guilty to those lies. It is a shame because his actions during the transition were lawful. There was nothing to hide!

However, according to The Washington Post last night, the explanation for this tweet is that Trump himself didn’t draft it:
Trump’s lawyer John Dowd drafted the president’s tweet, according to two people familiar with the twitter message. Its authorship could reduce how significantly it communicates anything about when the president knew that Flynn had lied to the FBI, but also raises questions about the public relations strategy of the president’s chief lawyer.
Two people close to the administration described the tweet simply as sloppy and unfortunate.
ABC News reports that Dowd himself said “he wrote those words and had done so in a ‘sloppy’ manner.”
There has been some skepticism over this:
Prove it, John Dowd. If this is true, there are surely emails you can show us corroborating your implausible story. Prove it. https://t.co/WI39yS3Q5m

We’re supposed to believe John Dowd wrote pled instead of pleaded? https://t.co/q2FmO8AsQ0

I’d love to see the look on John Dowd’s face when he finds out he drafted that tweet https://t.co/qyhR469Vyt
