Trump Mocked for Tweet Declaring Michael Cohen Is Getting Off ‘Scott Free’: ‘The New Covfefe’

Media and political observers are laughing at Donald Trump again over the latest example of his…strange grammatical style on Twitter.
Trump used his online proclamations on Monday to slam Michael Cohen over his plea deal with Robert Mueller. Since Cohen’s legal team is asking federal court that he not be sentenced to prison for lying to Congress, Trump got on his phone and showed no mercy to his former personal attorney.
“Michael Cohen asks judge for no Prison Time.” You mean he can do all of the TERRIBLE, unrelated to Trump, things having to do with fraud, big loans, Taxis, etc., and not serve a long prison term? He makes up stories to get a GREAT & ALREADY reduced deal for himself, and get…..

….his wife and father-in-law (who has the money?) off Scott Free. He lied for this outcome and should, in my opinion, serve a full and complete sentence.

Putting the attack on Cohen aside, a lot of people were confused about Trump’s decision to capitalize and misspell “Scott Free” in his tweet. As Dictionary.com and Merriam-Webster both pointed out, that’s not how the word is supposed to work.
We say “scot-free,” rather than “Scott Free,” because the word comes from the Old English scotfreo meaning “exempt from royal tax.https://t.co/p3rBovICML

?'Scot-free': completely free from obligation, harm, or penalty
'Scott Free': some guy, probablyhttps://t.co/nQFL7I0ELH
— Merriam-Webster (@MerriamWebster) December 3, 2018
As it were, “Scott Free” is trending on Twitter as of this writing, and many members of the Twitterverse are having a laugh about it or wondering if Trump is talking about an actual person.
Who is Scott Free? https://t.co/8rsCamdZeH

As usual, Trump is confused here. “Getting off scot-free” refers to not paying a tax or penalty (from the Danish “skatt”), which of c is dodge Trump knows something about. “Scott Free” describes leaving an administration under suspicion of fraud (from the asshole “Scott Pruitt”). https://t.co/duFVIKMXPX

I knew Scott Free. Fucker got away with everything. The Bowling Green Massacre. Smuggling Covfefe. Raking 12 kilos of leaves from the forest. Never caught him. But we will.
Okay I’ve watched too many episodes of Narcos.

I can neither confirm or deny that we are in talks to represent the #ScottFree 2020 Presidential campaign or one of its affiliated campaign committees.
This will be our only statement on this matter.
