Donald Trump tonight tweeted and then quickly deleted a message that appeared to be threatening Ted Cruz‘s wife:

The first thing you need to know about this tweet is that the entire premise of it is false. Trump is referring to a Super PAC that ran a ridiculous ad featuring a nude photo his wife Melania posed for with the caption “Meet Melania Trump, Your Next First Lady. Or, You Could Support Ted Cruz on Tuesday.”
That was an ad targeted at Mormons released by the Super PAC Make America Awesome and NOT the Cruz campaign.
But facts aside, what exactly is Trump threatening to “spill the beans” on about Cruz’s wife?
UPDATE –– 9:55 pm EST: Trump reposted the tweet with two “Lyin’ Ted”s. So yeah:
Lyin' Ted Cruz just used a picture of Melania from a G.Q. shoot in his ad. Be careful, Lyin' Ted, or I will spill the beans on your wife!

UPDATE –– 10:26 pm EST: Cruz responded, and, um, yikes:
Pic of your wife not from us. Donald, if you try to attack Heidi, you're more of a coward than I thought. #classless https://t.co/0QpKSnjgnE
