Trump Reportedly Starting Work Day Later to Spend Mornings on ‘TV and Twitter Time’

President Donald Trump’s workday schedule is shrinking, and packed with “Executive Time” — i.e. time spent watching TV and tweeting — according to a new report from Axios.

The president’s private schedule, obtained by Jonathan Swan of Axios, revealed Trump often starts his official day as late as 11 a.m., and is holding far fewer meeting than he once did — “largely to meet [his] demands for more ‘Executive Time,’ which almost always means TV and Twitter time alone in the residence,” officials said.

The schedule says Trump has “Executive Time” in the Oval Office every day from 8am to 11am, but the reality is he spends that time in his residence, watching TV, making phone calls and tweeting. Trump comes down for his first meeting of the day, which is often an intelligence briefing, at 11am.

What’s more, Trump’s days also end early, with him reportedly returning to the residence at 6 p.m.

During the work day, Trump “usually has a meeting or two, but spends a good deal of time making phone calls and watching cable news in the dining room adjoining the Oval. Then he’s back to the residence for more phone calls and more TV.”

Trump’s late starting hour is fairly unconventional, Axios notes, when compared to his predecessors: George W. Bush usually arrived in the Oval Office by 6:45 a.m., and Barack Obama between 9 and 10 a.m., after a work out.
