At the third presidential debate Wednesday night, Donald Trump affirmed that he would nominate judges to the Supreme Court who would overturn Roe v. Wade.
When Hillary Clinton stressed that she supported a woman’s right to make decisions about her health without government interference, Trump responded by condemning late-term partial-birth abortion and characterizing it in extremely visceral (and erroneous) terms.
“In the ninth month you can take the baby and rip the baby out of the womb of the mother just prior to the birth of the baby,” he said.
Trump repeated the description. He alleged that according to what Clinton was proposing, “You can take the baby and rip the baby out of the womb in the ninth month, in the final day, and that’s not acceptable.”
“Well, that is not what happens in these cases. And using that kind of scare rhetoric is just terribly unfortunate,” Clinton said.
Conservative pundit and #NeverTrump stalwart Glenn Beck, no fan of the pro-choice movement, took to Twitter to criticize Trump’s assessment of partial-birth abortion.
You have got to be kidding! Trump doesn’t even know what partial birth abortion even is! Ahhhhhhhgggggg.#debate
