Twitter Flips Over Giuliani’s New Statement on Stormy Payment: ‘The Truth Made My Boss Angry’

On Friday, former New York City mayor and President Donald Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani issued a statement that was intended to clarify the remarks he made on Sean Hannity‘s show.
As Twitter quickly noted, it didn’t.
During that first off the rails interview on Fox, Giuliani said that Trump had reimbursed his embattled longtime personal lawyer Michael Cohen for a $130,000 payment he made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.
Afterward, Giuliani tried to clarify his statement a bit, telling ABC: “I don’t think the president realized he paid him back for that specific thing until we made him aware of the paperwork.”
Then, on Friday afternoon, he issued another damage control statement to try to clean up the mess.
Blue check Twitter, though, couldn’t help but notice that Giuliani’s “damage control on Donald Trump’s damage control of Rudy Giuliani’s damage control on Donald Trump’s damage control” not only added to the confusion but was, in some’s estimation, just plain “awesome.”
CNN’s Kaitlan Collins simply responded to the statement with “What?”, while Fox’s Howard Kurtz noted that it was clear Trump was not happy.
Others noted it was too little, too late and pointed out that Giuliani had just compounded with yet another misstatement in an attempt at a “CYA-ea culpa.”

The Reagan Battalion, though, may have summed out the Twitter response the best, translating the statement as “I’m here to lie because the truth made my boss angry.”
