Twitter Raises Hell After Pastor Says God Grants Trump ‘Moral Authority’ to Obliterate North Korea

There are a lot of people who are not impressed by one of Donald Trump’s top religious advisers who suggested that the president has the divine right to annihilate North Korea.
Evangelical megachurch pastor Robert Jeffress is defending Trump’s statement about how America will rain “fire and fury” on the rogue nation if Kim Jong Un continues with his international aggression and weapons testing. Jeffress gave a statement to Washington Post this week, citing a Bible passage about how God “gives the government…the authority to do whatever, whether it’s assassination, capital punishment or evil punishment to quell the actions of evildoers like Kim Jong Un.”
Jeffress reiterated his thoughts when he appeared on a Fox News “Focus on Faith” segment and said, “the Bible gives President Trump the moral authority to use whatever force necessary, including assassination or even war, to take out an evil-doer like Kim Jong Un. I think most Christians understand that.”
As it were, Jeffress’ remarks have attracted significant online attention, and a few people have some problems with them:

Pastors like Robert Jeffress are why sane, decent, compassionate people are fleeing Christianity. He’s a reverse-evangelist.#robertjeffress

Midway Hills Christian Church doesn’t interpret the Bible’s scripture the way Robert Jeffress does when it comes to war. #Trump #NorthKorea pic.twitter.com/5nE0Rksb5A

I believe Robert Jeffress believes God has granted Trump the authority to be Jeffress’ god. https://t.co/YYvCS6QZ1b

Good grief. This man would be a priest at Bethel back in the day telling the kings of Israel all was well. https://t.co/GXwT79WHhy
