Twitter Slams ‘Cowardly and Manipulative’ Trump For Disinviting Eagles to WH: ‘Pure Racism’

President Trump has invited the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles from the White House event tomorrow, after some players said they wouldn’t go.
The White House statement, attributed to the President, specifically cites disagreements over the National Anthem. Twitter was pretty stunned at the President’s big decision. One of Pennsylvania’s senators has already responded by inviting them to Congress instead.
I’m proud of what the @Eagles accomplished this year. I’m skipping this political stunt at the White House and just invited the Eagles to Congress. @Eagles How about a tour of the Capitol? https://t.co/niWR7zkSYx

The @Eagles are still welcome to visit the US Capitol. I will have @Wawa coffee waiting. https://t.co/Ts41v7GBGn

You can’t fire me. I quit. https://t.co/6Zg2SGwONr

So it’s not new news several of the Eagles were participating in peaceful demonstrations during the national anthem, and weren’t interested in going to the White House. In other words, this was a political setup by Trump.

Trump canceling Eagles’ White House visit was probably always the plan by Trump. It’s cowardly and manipulative.
It also continues to show how dumb the owners were to kowtow to him.— mike freeman (@mikefreemanNFL) June 4, 2018
I see the NFL’s ass kissing strategy is going well https://t.co/FRGhQjOiUm

Eagles stunt is straight out of WH politics of division handbook. At its core: pure racism.

So instead of having the Eagles, they’re just going to PLAY THE NATIONAL ANTHEM, just as a theoretical honor to the military. This administration will always do what is symbolically easy rather than what is actually hard. Always. https://t.co/2NyaCpRSik

This is a White House that thinks it has a greater claim on Philadelphia Eagles fans’ sympathies than the Philadelphia Eagles. pic.twitter.com/5fWJSKQubX

Here is my commentary about Trump’s decision to uninvite the Philadelphia Eagles to the White House:

This is just as petty and small-minded as we’ve come to expect from this president. He’s milking the anthem controversy for all it’s worth. https://t.co/WC54Mw7egB

Our president is so petty https://t.co/8K4rDIeV19

This would be among the biggest embarrassments of an entire presidency in a normal White House. it’s not even the most embarrassing thing Trump’s done today. https://t.co/9f9QARVPiS
