Last week we reported that former Barack Obama green jobs adviser Van Jones felt remorse for the fact that because the President was a Democrat, he and other progressives kept silent during the BP oil spill. This move away from stiff partisan allegiance seems to continue this morning, as Jones tweeted his support for Cory Booker in the wake of the Newark mayor’s criticism of the Obama campaign’s attacks on Bain Capital and subsequent backtracking.
Jones said that Booker’s heroic record gives him the right to scrutinize the integrity of other public officials:
An urban mayor who nearly DIED saving neighbor from a fire, has earned right 2 demand integrity & courage from other leaders. @corybooker

Of course, this is not to say that Jones agrees with Booker, Ford, and Rattner that private equity is a good thing. But he does believe that Booker should not have been put in the proverbial dog pound for simply holding other leaders accountable for their campaign actions.
