A harrowing video captured by a pedestrian in Spain shows police opening fire in the middle of the street on an alleged suspect in the Barcelona terror attacks that rocked the European country Thursday.
The footage was taken in Cambrils, a coastal town 90 minutes south of Barcelona, where Catalan police said they killed five terror suspects — who appeared to be wearing explosive belts — in an operation.
That operation came hours after Spain was struck by its worst terror attack in more than a decade, when a van plowed through pedestrians on Las Ramblas, Barcelona’s most popular thoroughfare, killing at least thirteen people and injuring 80 more.
Catalan authorities said Friday morning that the explosive belts worn by the attackers killed in Cambrils were fake, per ABC News.
The video shows a man, possibly wearing a device on his waist, pacing on one side of the street as police shoot at him. At one point he seems to attempt to jump over the divider, but police fire keeps him at bay.
At one point he falls, before stumbling to his feet and walking out of view.
