Video Shows Man Repeatedly Tased Before Dying in Police Custody

police vidAn MSNBC report uncovered video of an unarmed man being repeatedly tased by three police officers before dying in police custody.

Back in May 2013, officers put Linwood Lambert in their police car because he seemed to be a little disoriented and delusional. They drove him to the hospital, but when they arrived Lambert ran out of the police car. The officers fired their tasers at him outside multiple times.

The video picks up Lambert asking, while on the ground, “Why are you trying to kill me, man?”

The officers restrained him and tased him again before throwing him back in the police car. Records uncovered by MSNBC found the officers fired their tasers 20 times.

When they arrived at the jail, the officers realized Lambert was non-responsive. He was brought back to the hospital and pronounced dead on arrival.

Lambert’s sister, Gwendolyn Smalls, filed a lawsuit against the police this past summer for excessive force, wrongful death, etc.

Court filings show that the police defended the “appropriate and necessary” actions the officers took because of the danger posed by Lambert.
