WATCH: British PM Theresa May Sashays Onstage to ABBA’s ‘Dancing Queen’

The best verb to describe what British Prime Minister Theresa May is doing as she enters the stage in this clip above? It’s not quite dancing, as she is walking with purpose. Nor is she strutting, as that’s more of a cock-of-the-walk confidence style that connotes a rooster trot.

No, what Theresa May is doing while the stage for her speech to close the Conservative Party Conference — to the dulcet sounds of ABBA’s Dancing Queen — is walking in an ostentatious yet casual manner, typically with exaggerated movements of the hips and shoulders.

Which just so happens to be the definition of  “sashaying,” ergo the headline.

May’s awkward dancing steeze has been an object of ridicule and memes, but count this writer as one who embraces May’s willingness to let the beat move her, even if her kinetic motion isn’t world class.

Watch the clip above and don’t judge. She’s just as dorky as a dancer as 99% of us. The world would be a better place if we all danced to ABBA more.
