WATCH LIVE: Sarah Sanders Gives Press Briefing Amid Chaos
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will hold a briefing Tuesday to discuss the administration’s latest plans and administrative agenda. The briefing is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. ET.
Today’s presser is bound to be full of questions about Rudy Giuliani‘s bombshell Fox News interviews over the last 24 hours. The former New York mayor-turned-Trump lawyer says that President Trump reimbursed Michael Cohen over his hush money payments to Stormy Daniels: a direct contradiction of the stories both of them have offered on the matter. Giuliani claims Trump had no idea what he was paying Cohen back for, but his statements have opened a new dimension of intrigue regarding Cohen’s potential bank fraud, the Trump campaign’s possible violation of campaign finance laws, and the dynamics of how Daniels was gagged from speaking about her alleged affair with Trump in 2016.
Another subject that may come up is Ty Cobb‘s departure from the White House’s legal team. Cobb used to recommend that Trump should give an interview to the special counsel on Russia, but since he’s being replaced by Emmet Flood, there’s reason to believe the president’s legal team will now embrace a more aggressive strategy over the matter. Giuliani’s recent media hits corroborate this probability since he has provided guidelines for what the White House will and will not accept in any interview with Robert Mueller.
Other topics that might come up include the ongoing diplomatic efforts with North Korea, and the ongoing political drama surrounding Mueller’s investigation.
