WATCH: Massive 7.0 Earthquake Causes Destruction in Alaskan Streets, Newsrooms, Classrooms
Photos and video are starting to appear online after Alaska was rocked by a 7.0 earthquake that stuck just outside of Anchorage.
Citizens around Cook Inlet and the Kenai Peninsula are seeking local shelter – even though tsunami warnings have been turned off – and emergency services are frantically working to assess the damage to bridges, buildings and major highways in the area. Phone lines and local media outlets were impacted by quake, though social media posts are providing a sense for the size and scale of the devastation.
