A soccer match in Thailand over the weekend ended with one of the craziest shootout goals you will ever see.
It happened on Saturday during a match between Bangkok Sports Club and Satri Angthong. According to the Daily Mail, the game was tied 2-2 after regulation — and remained knotted through a shootout at a ridiculous 19-19.
Finally — it appeared — a breakthrough. Bangkok Sports Club’s shooter hit the crossbar with his attempt, and it bounced high in the air. The Satri Angthong keeper ran upfield in celebration, while Bangkok’s shooter could do nothing but stare at the goal in disbelief.
But the ball was still live.
And when it hit the turf — approximately seven yards in front of the net — it took a backwards hop and then slowly but surely began heading towards the now abandoned goal. The ball was nearly all the way over the line before Satri Angthong’s keeper realized what was happening. He’d begun his celebration prematurely, and now he couldn’t get back in time.
Satri Angthong went on to miss their attempt at the equalizer, and Bangkok Sports Club won 20-19 on an absolutely insane tally.
Somewhere, Leon Lett is nodding in solidarity with the Satri Angthong goalie.
