Gotta see this to believe it. @DanaRohrabacher is asked if he wants to send a Chinese New Year message to the VOA China audience and he responds with racist stereotypes about eating dogs. https://t.co/0qhhF521UZ #CA48 pic.twitter.com/xHh35UzLeE

So apparently, Rep Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) had a moment earlier this year where he took an interviewer’s question and used that to talk about the stereotype of Chinese people eating dogs.
During an interview in February with Voice of America China, Rohrabacher was asked if he had anything to say about the upcoming Chinese New Year. His answer was…well, see for yourself.
“Well, let me just note, coming in is the Year of the Dog. Now, there are some people in the United States who don’t like it that Chinese people eat dog. And I want them, the Chinese people, to know, that we eat bunnies over here, and we eat all kinds of little animals. I don’t blame them for eating dog. I mean, if that’s what tastes good, that’s what tastes good.”
Rohrabacher continued with his cringe-worthy answer by insisting that “we don’t attack their ways,” and that America likes the Chinese people despite disapproving of their government.
So…yeah. Make of that what you will.
