Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will hold a briefing today to discuss the White House’s latest plans and administrative agenda. The briefing is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. EST.
Today’s briefing is likely to involve questions about President Trump‘s disputed account of his phone call to Sgt. La David Johnson‘s family after the Green Beret was killed in action in Niger. The president is feuding with Rep. Frederica Wilson over her allegation that Trump spoke insensitively to Johnson’s grieving widow over the phone, and the controversy has dissolved into a he-said/she-said situation.
Trump doubled down on his side of the dispute earlier today, even though Johnson’s family has spoken to the media and taken Wilson’s side over the president’s “disrespectful” comments to them.
Sanders is also likely to face questions about Attorney General Jeff Sessions and his testimony today before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Sessions was grilled on a plethora of issues: from the actions of former FBI director James Comey to the ongoing investigations on Russia to the president’s decision to pardon Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
Other topics that might come up include Trump’s latest speech on tax reform, his controversial remarks about Barack Obama, and the latest developments pertaining to Puerto Rico, North Korea, and ISIS.
