‘What The F Are You Talking About?’ Hunter Biden Slams Scott Jennings, ‘Irrelevant’ CNN

Former first son Hunter Biden slammed CNN as “completely irrelevant” and ripped GOP analyst Scott Jennings, disputing the assertion that he makes for “good TV.”

Jennings has seen his influence soar after Trump assumed office again, most often in explosive panel segments on the Abby Phillip-anchored CNN NewsNight.

Hunter Biden sat down for a rare, three-hour-plus interview on Substack this week, during which he took Jennings on over his commentary and roasted the network as well.

The conversation began with some comments about a specific exchange from CNN Tonight, but Hunter wanted to double back and elaborate for several minutes:

HUNTER BIDEN: Are you kidding? Like it’s like that is like what the F are you talking about, Scott? What are you even talking about? Do you even hear yourself?

And I know that they do hear themselves, but it doesn’t matter anymore. They’re just literally mouth breathers that are just filling space and getting the paycheck. And sitting there.

And by the way, what, like I love Abby Phillips (sic), but what, is there any, is there, any clip that I’ve ever seen in which I believe that Scott Jennings is telling anything remotely close to the truth? Or making a point that has any relevance to the reality that, that, uh, that I live in. No. And that’s the thing–.

TOMMY CHRISTOPHER: She straight up called him a liar on Twitter on Saturday. He tweeted something about a segment and she was like, “that is a lie.”

So I don’t know, things are gonna be tense tonight on that show, but. So since you brought up Scott, and listen, I don’t wanna hear.

You did, I didn’t! (LAUGHS)

TOMMY CHRISTOPHER: …About Scott, like. What do you say to somebody like me, who of course I want to rip my own hair out what’s left of it when I see him on TV, but also I think Abby would say and all of my editors would say he’s great TV.

HUNTER BIDEN: Here’s what I would say, that’s not true either, is that CNN is completely irrelevant.

And I’m not being mean, I’m not being, you know, I really mean it. Uh, somehow they’ve figured out a way to, to, um, to not, uh, to not be appealing to anyone for any reason.

TOMMY CHRISTOPHER: That’s really harsh!

HUNTER BIDEN: And I really mean it because, well, I, I look. And I’m not, and I like, like for instance, I mean, why am I gonna, I was about to name people that I like and then I thought, well, that’s a good way to completely ruin their reputation. I know, right? No, but that’s good.

TOMMY CHRISTOPHER: Right? No, but that’s a good headline for me. Come on, tell me who you like.

HUNTER BIDEN: No, but my point is, and I don’t mean this in a mean way, because I don’t know anything about television ratings, I mean, they all make a decent buck and they’re making a living.

But what I’m saying is, is that I think that traditional media or mainstream media, whatever label that you want to put on it has been dead a long time.

And obviously that there is, but that Scott Jennings is not good TV. Scott Jennings is– he’s there for one reason, because if he wasn’t there, I think that, um there would be even more pressure, whether it was at the FEC, FCC or what, um you know, with donors or with, um the, the, the oligarchs that, that owned CNN from the Trump administration.

And so I, I don’t, I mean, but ultimately at the end of the day, who watches it? Is maybe the handful of people in that town and, and, uh, but I really mean it. Like what?

Look, I was looking at numbers a while back and I think like. I think that, you know, top rated show at CNN gets maybe five, 600,000 viewers nightly or something like that out of 350 million people.

TOMMY CHRISTOPHER: Let me just say this in CNN’s defense because I am sort of like a CNN fan, but I do want them to do better.

First of all, I think Abby does a good job. Like they bombard Jennings when he talks sh*t on that one show. When he’s on other shows, I noticed that everything’s a lot more polite. And it’s like you said, I that goes a long way to appeasing donors or whoever.

But I also, I’m sort of like Princess Leia, you know, like when she’s like “Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope!”.

I think CNN is our only hope because CNN has the potential to be seen as the credible arbiter of, and I just think, yeah, I think doing shit like getting rid of Jim Acosta and promoting a lot of the stuff that I’ve noticed in a lot, they pull a lot punches now with Trump. And I think that that’s damaging.

I think you’re right that they’re hurting themselves. But I just think I think it’s better to want them to do better than to say, well, they’re irrelevant and let them go away. But, you know.

HUNTER BIDEN: No, no, no. By the way, I’m not saying that there aren’t people at CNN that are good journalists.

TOMMY CHRISTOPHER: Name the names because you’ve tantalized all of my friends, I have friends over there, they’re going to want to hear. Go ahead, who is it?

HUNTER BIDEN: No.

TOMMY CHRISTOPHER: (LAUGHS) You like Abby, you said–

HUNTER BIDEN: I mean, I really, I’m really not, you know, because I want, I don’t want to, I don’t wanna make their lives even more difficult than it already is.

Biden had a lot more to say about Jennings, CNN, and the media — which you can see via the Tommy Christopher Substack interview series, or on Mediaite later this week.
