“She was bleeding badly from a face-lift,” President Donald Trump Tweeted early Thursday.
The woman he was referencing, of course, was Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski — in a tweet that’s been the talk of cable news all day.
But Hardball host Chris Matthews noted that this was not the first time Trump made a remark about a woman bleeding. He played the infamous clip of Trump talking about Megyn Kelly after the first Republican Presidential debate. (“You could see blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her wherever.”)
This led Matthews to pose the following question:
“What’s this thing with blood?!” Matthews asked Hardball panelist Katy Tur. “And bleeding? I’m sorry. It’s unusual behavior.”
Tur, who earlier in the day railed against the White House, had no answers for Matthews.
“I don’t know what his thing with blood or bleeding is,” Tur replied. “It is the second time he’s brought this up.”
She added that the remarks are part of an overall pattern of misogyny on the part of the President.
“You can show that video and I think it is very clear that there is a pattern of Donald Trump talking about looks and talking about women a certain way,” Tur said.
