Would Michelle Obama Approve Of ‘The Obama Burger’?
Michelle Obama‘s name has become practically synonymous with the push towards getting children (and their parents) exercising and eating healthy, wholesome foods. So we wonder what she’d think about a burger recipe named for her husband that comes complete with mayonnaise and bacon.
The burger was first created by Spike Mendelsohn when, in 2008, he decided to come up with both a Barack Obama burger and John McCain burger to commemorate the election:
I think bipartisan couples were getting divorced in front of my cashiers, first-time dates were finding out way too much information and there were a few wacky but lovable Democrats coming in to order the Obama burger — so it would count toward the vote — but who wanted all the McCain ingredients.
Not only did Obama win in my burger competition by 4-1 (which I’m sure he was worried about) but he also won the big one — 44th president of the United States.
Now, the bacon-covered, red onion marmalade-dressed, blue cheese-slathered burger is on the menu of his Capitol Hill restaurant “Good Stuff Eatery” as the “Prez Obama Burger.” For the record, the McCain burger included “Southwestern chipotle mayo, corn and roasted red pepper salsa, jack cheese, lettuce, and tomato.”
Take a look at the recipe, and let us know if you’d order one. (We highly suspect the First Lady would pass it up.)
