‘You Can’t Tell Me to Stop!’ CNN Panel on Paris Climate Accord Goes Off the Rails
Things got a bit out of hand during a CNN panel discussion related to President Donald Trump’s announcement that the United States was pulling out of the Paris Climate Agreement.
CNN political analyst and Daily Beast editor-in-chief John Avlon got things started by claiming that Trump’s decision to drop out wasn’t about American jobs so much as it was about the “nationalist wing of the White House” saying they defeated the globalists. To reiterate his point, Avlon noted that it wasn’t “being backed up by the CEOs.”
Piggybacking on that, host Erin Burnett asked CNN contributor and former Trump spokesman Jason Miller about the president’s claim that he’s doing this because of jobs when there are hundreds of thousands of jobs in the green energy field and we should see continued growth there.
“The reason they call them green jobs is because they’re so expensive to create,” he said. “Many of these green jobs aren’t self-sustainable — they have to continue putting money into them.”
Miller went on to claim that the United States would lose several million jobs and see median incomes slashed by thousands if it stayed in the agreement.
And, with that, all hell broke loose.
Avlon jumped in and the two men began shouting over each other. While Avlon was telling him to “stop using spin and fake stats,” Miller was shooting back “you can’t tell me to stop!”
The cacophony continued for nearly a minute until Burnett finally could gain control, explaining that she was “the anchor” and that Miller needed to cease talking so Avlon could speak.
