Biden Appears to Forget Name of ‘Hamas’ Until Press Corps Helps Him Out

President Joe Biden struggled and failed to remember the name of Hamas, the terrorist organization at war with Israel during remarks he made at the White House on Tuesday before eventually being helped out by a member of the press who cued him.

After being asked “what needs to get done for the hostage deal to get resolved” between the American ally and Hamas, Biden replied “this indirectly has a lot to do with the hostage deal and what’s going on in the Middle East — the decision on what we do relative to Israel, the decision what we do or in terms of American funding of whether we’re going to engage with the situation in Ukraine,” referencing a deal on border funding, as well as aid packages to Ukraine and Israel rejected by congressional Republicans.

“It all goes to the question of American power. It all goes to: Does America keep its word? Does America move forward?” insisted Biden before going on to trip over his words.

“There is some movement, and I don’t want to, I don’t want to- well, maybe choose my words. There is some movement, there’s been a response from the- there’s been a response from the opposition but-”

“Hamas?” interjected a reporter seeking to clarify the president’s comments.

“Yes, I’m sorry — from Hamas,” said Biden. “But it seems to be a little over the top. We’re not sure where it is. There’s a continuing negotiation right now.”

Biden’s age and mental competency are expected to be major issues in the upcoming presidential election, likely to be between the 81-year-old Biden and the 77-year-old Republican frontrunner, Donald Trump.

A recent NBC News poll in which Biden trailed Trump by 5 points nationally also found that 62% of Americans have “major concerns” over Biden’s mental and physical health, while another 14% had “moderate concerns” over the same.
