Bill Maher declared he won’t go “nuts again” if Donald Trump returns to the White House.
The comedian sat down with Jerry Seinfeld for the latest episode of his Club Random podcast, and at one point Maher began lightly roasting people too concerned about various crises like climate change, world war, and Trump’s potential return to office.
“With all the bullshit going on, we live in the most amazing fucking times,” Maher said. “The climate change is probably going to get us at some point but it hasn’t yet.”
Maher then needled his own friends who complain about the world “ending.”
“I’m sitting having dinner with people and they’re like, the world’s ending. I’m like, look around you, you fuck, you dumbass,” Maher said. “We’re at this fucking awesome restaurant, they’re bringing us this food, this dinner’s probably going to cost $700 and I’m not even going to fucking blink at paying the check. Shut the fuck up about how terrible things are.”
He added he won’t lost his “nervous system” if Trump defeats President Joe Biden in November.
“I’m not going to lose my nervous system about Trump again. If he ends the world, he’s going to end the world. I’m not gonna fucking go nuts again if he wins another term. I just can’t,” Maher said.
“I hope you have that wherewithal,” Seinfeld responded, adding he’s “trying to stay right there” with his feelings about the election.
“Or you can get anxious like a millennial,” Maher added.
“Exactly,” Seinfeld said.
Maher also announced during the show that he’ll be putting stand up comedy in the rearview mirror after this year and one more comedy special, saying he wants to focus more on his show and podcast and expectations from audiences have changed.
“After 40 years that’s why I don’t want to make an announcement. ‘This is my final…’ I might change my mind. It might be like cutting off a limb, and I have to go back to it,” he said.
