Bill O’Reilly predicted “serious trouble” for NBC amid public outcries from MSNBC anchors over the hiring of former RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel.
Since the Trump ally was brought on as an analyst, Joe Scarborough, Chuck Todd, Jen Psaki, and others have expressed their disapproval, describing McDaniel as an election denier who does not deserve the platform. On his No Spin News show, former Fox News host O’Reilly tore into NBC talent revolting against their own network while admitting McDaniel “made a mistake” with her actions and statements surrounding the 2020 presidential election.
“The crux of the matter is Ms. McDaniel made a mistake by trying to influence people not to certify the electoral votes in January of 2021. That was a mistake on her part. Should she be canceled forever because of that, banished because of that? According to the NBC personnel, yes,” O’Reilly said, playing clips of a tense interview between McDaniel and Kristen Welker, and Todd criticizing McDaniel immediately after.
O’Reilly argued in favor of more voices like McDaniel on news broadcasts, claiming most traditional and conservative voices have been “banned” from mainstream media.
“The corrupt media doesn’t really cover the news anymore. They do not tell you the truth. It’s ideological. It’s slants the news, it spins the news,” he said.
O’Reilly argued that in a “sane world,” McDaniel would apologize for pushing a “false narrative” about the 2020 presidential election being fraudulent. He also knocked MSNBC anchors for their reporting on the “phony Russian collusion thing” related to the 2016 presidential election.
“Didn’t they push a false narrative? So if Ronna McDaniel pushed a false narrative, which she did, I’m not making an equivalency here, I’m just showing you hypocrisy,” he said.
The ex-Fox News host added the public protests from the network’s stars is likely a sign they’ve lost control of the “asylum” as they seek new viewership opportunities in voices like McDaniel.
“NBC is in serious trouble. When the inmates, to use a cliche, run the asylum, you’ve lost control,” O’Reilly said. “You really have.”
