BREAKING: Republicans Projected to Hold Senate

 

Republicans will maintain control of the Senate, a number of networks projected Tuesday night.

The evening started buzzing with anticipation that a blue wave would carry Democrats to power in the House, and perhaps even gain control of the Senate. Democrats managed to wrest control of the House, Fox News projects, but Republicans held on to the Senate, and it looks like they might even add a few seats to their majority.

Republicans picked up some key Senate seats early: Marsha Blackburn won the election in Tennessee, beating Taylor Swift-endorsed Democrat Phil Bredesen. Mike Braun beat incumbent Democrat Joe Donnelly in Indiana.

Once Ted Cruz was projected to beat liberal darling Beto O’Rourke in Texas, the networks began calling the Senate for Republicans.
