‘Cultural Suicide’: MAGA Goes Wild With Shock Attacks On Zohran Mamdani’s Background

MAGA leaders and social media influencers attacked Zohran Mamdani after he appeared to win the Democratic Party primary for New York City mayor on Tuesday night. Many of the attacks focused on Mamdani’s identity, both his Muslim faith and the fact that he became a U.S. citizen in recent years.
Trump organizer and MAGA-world podcaster Charlie Kirk led the charge on X, posting, “24 years ago a group of Muslims killed 2,753 people on 9/11. Now a Muslim Socialist is on pace to run New York City.”
Top Trump White House aide Stephen Miller blamed immigration for Mamdani’s win, writing, “The commentary about NYC Democrats nominating an anarchist-socialist for Mayor omits one point: how unchecked migration fundamentally remade the NYC electorate. Democrats change politics by changing voters. That’s how you turn a city that defined US dominance into what it is now.”
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) also got in on the attacks, posting an image of the Statue of Liberty wearing what appeared to be a burka. She captioned the image, “This hits hard.”
Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) joined Benny Johnson’s show and fumed that Mamdani’s win is “Just like Europe. Mass migration overrun by Muslims and given leadership to mayors of all these European cities, it’s coming from the Muslim faith. There’s a lot of good Muslims, but not this radical Islamic terrorism plot towards globalism for the U.S.”
“If the Muslim Brotherhood would have been designated as a terroist org, @ZohranKMamdani could have been prevented from running for office. Get ready for Muslims to start committing jihad all over New York,” wrote self-declared “proud Islamophobe” and close Trump ally Laura Loomer.
Many of the attacks on Mamdani over his religion have been quickly condemned as Islamophobic. Fox News host Jessica Tarlov replied to Kirk, writing, “Charlie – this is so gross and Islamophobic. Take it down.”
Kirk hit back at Tarlov, writing, “Debate me on the merits, don’t just throw out petty thought terminating cliches. This isn’t 2015, that doesn’t work anymore. What Muslim country do you prefer to live in, Jessica?”
She replied with an actual assessment of Mamdani’s policy proposals, “I’m not afraid to say that I don’t think Mamdani’s vision for the city is a good one, and I think a lot of his policies are crazy – NYC is the home of capitalism, not socialism. I want more police funding, not to defund. BDS is repellent. We can’t freeze rent, making everything free. But none of that has to do with him being Muslim.”
Kirk later doubled down on the race-baiting, writing:
London
Calgary
Rotterdam
And soon…. New York City
The power centers of the west will soon have Muslim Mayors
You become what you import
Kirk was quickly slapped with a community note that read, “Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek is a Sikh and not a Muslim.”
Mamdani spoke publicly during the campaign about the amount of racist vitriol thrown his way, including death threats. Many of the attacks on Mamdani have also focused on his platform and his membership in the Democratic Socialists of America party.
Donald Trump Jr. reacted by writing, “New York City has fallen,” in response to a tweet by Michael Malice that read, “I’m old enough to remember when New Yorkers endured 9/11 instead of voting for it.”
Mamdani, 33, would become the first Muslim-American mayor of New York City if elected in November. He will face embattled incumbent Mayor Eric Adams, who chose to run as an independent, and the Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa.
