DeSantis Pledges to ‘Wear a Boot on My Head’ if ‘Donald Trump Can Summon the Balls’ to Debate

Republican presidential candidate and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said he will wear a boot on his head if former President Donald Trump shows up at an upcoming Republican primary debate.

Trump, who holds a massive lead over the GOP field, skipped out on the first two events and has not paid a price in the polls. DeSantis, meanwhile, has been languishing in various places that are not first.

On Monday, podcaster Patrick Bet-David asked DeSantis about internet speculation shared by Trump.

“What they’re trying to say with this, is that in your boots, you have heels,” Bet-David said.

“No, no, those are just standard off-the-rack, Lucchese,” DeSantis protested.

Appearing on Thursday’s edition of The Balance on Newsmax, the governor addressed a rumor that he wears heels inside his boots to appear taller.

“There are these gotcha people,” host Eric Bolling said. “These people who just wanna sit there and they wanna talk about how tall you are, whether you’re wearing boots with what do they call it? Heel, extenders inside.”

Asked to respond, DeSantis dismissed the accusation.

“This is no time for foot fetishes,” the governor, who then rattled off challenges facing the country, before pivoting to Trump. “I know Donald Trump and a lot of his people have been focusing on things like footwear. I’ll tell you this. You know, if Donald Trump can summon the balls to show up to the debate. I’ll wear a boot on my head. This is a time for substance. This is a time for us to debate the issues that matter to the American people.”

The next debate is in DeSantis’ home state on Nov. 8 in Miami. It does not appear Trump has any intention of attending.
