New Co-Chair Lara Trump Tells RNC ‘We Have To Raise A Lot of Money!’ After Pledging ‘Every Single Penny’ To Re-elect Her Father-in-Law
Shortly after becoming the new co-chair of the RNC, Lara Trump announced that the GOP had to raise “a lot of money” if they wanted to reinstate her father-in-law in the White House as the 47th president.
Lara Trump and MAGA acolyte Michael Whatley were voted in as Donald Trump’s hand-picked candidates to replace outgoing chair Ronna McDaniel.
At the RNC meeting in Houston Friday, Lara Trump held up a check, saying, “And I have great news! I brought this up here today because I wanted everyone to know that, already, I have a check for the Republican National Committee that’s $100,000 that has been donated as of today, as of these nominations going through,” she said as the audience cheered.
“Yeah, we’re starting today, folks!” she exclaimed over the applause.
Last month, when her name was still being floated as a candidate for co-chair, Lara Trump told Newsmax that she would make sure “every single penny” the RNC raised would go toward re-electing her father-in-law.
“Every single penny will go to the number one and the only job of the RNC: that is electing Donald J. Trump as president of the United States and saving this country. We have no time to waste. We’ve got to get to work. We’ve got a lot of money to raise and we need to ensure that every penny goes to those things that I just mentioned,” she said.
Lara Trump also suggested, before the South Carolina primaries, that Republican voters would welcome having their donations go toward Donald Trump’s massive legal fees. She said she wasn’t familiar with the RNC’s rules but thought Republicans would support offsetting the cost of the former president’s “political persecution.”
“That’s why people are furious right now. And they see the attacks against him. They feel like it’s an attack not just on Donald Trump but on this country,” she said. “So, yeah, I think that is a big interest to people, absolutely.”
This week, Trump managed to scrape together a $91 million bond for his E. Jean Carroll defamation suit appeal. According to Forbes, Trump has racked up a massive $540 million in legal fees in the last year.
