Trump Wins Nevada

Former President Donald Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris in Nevada, capturing a state he lost in 2020 and in 2016. Decision Desk HQ made the call after the outlet called Pennsylvania and the general election for Trump.
Nonetheless, the state has been highly contested battleground state as Republicans have sought to turn the once stable blue state red. In 2016, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton won the state by 2.4% even though polling averages showed Trump ahead in the state by a narrow margin.
Again in 2020, President Joe Biden clinched Nevada by an even similar margin to Clinton as polls should the Democratic nominee ahead before election day. The GOP narrowly flipped the state in the 2022 Senate race as Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto narrowly defeated her Republican competitor Adam Laxalt during the midterm election by less than one point.
Historically, Washoe County and Clark County, the state’s largest county, have been Democratic strongholds. Clark is the largest urban county in the Silver State as it is home to the country’s gambling capital — Las Vegas.
During the final days before the election, both Trump and Harris held multiple rallies there in order to build-up support in the battleground state. Both campaigns visited Nevada the state 25 times since March, according to the Associated Press.
Nevada and its six electoral votes were thought to be for Harris, but the contest there turned out to be moot by the time the race was called.
The state has a divided government with Republicans controlling the governor’s office while Democrats maintain a majority the offices of attorney general, secretary of state, and both chambers of the state legislature.
