Billionaire Trump ally Elon Musk reportedly attacked President Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” on Tuesday because he was “butthurt,” according to a new report that quoted people “in frequent communication” with both men.
“I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination,” wrote Musk in a social media post after his time as a special government employee in the Trump administration came to an end. “Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.”
According to Axios reporter Marc Caputo, who spoke to “two people in frequent communication with both,” Musk attacked Trump’s bill after becoming irritated over four “inflection points.”
They reportedly included Musk’s inability to continue serving in his position as a special government employee beyond the imposed time limit, the Trump administration’s refusal to run air traffic control systems from Musk’s satellite internet company Starlink, Trump’s decision to withdraw his nomination of Musk ally Jared Isaacman to serve as NASA administrator, and tax credit for electric vehicles being cut from the bill – a blow to Musk’s company Tesla, which has already suffered as a result of the billionaire’s participation in the Trump administration.
According to the report, the withdrawal of Isaacman’s nomination was the “final straw” for Musk, with one unnamed White House official calling it an “out-the-door ‘f**k you'” to the billionaire allegedly coordinated by Office of Presidential Personnel director Sergio Gor.
While Isaacman’s nomination was allegedly withdrawn due to protests from senators over his history of Democratic donations, the White House official told Axios they were “pretty sure Elon thought the NASA situation was a last insult.”
“Elon was butthurt,” one source told the outlet.
