Eric Trump Makes Clear Dad’s Hot Mic Moment Was About His Foreign Businesses

First son Eric Trump joined Real America’s Voice on Thursday to pitch his new book, but at one point, host Eric Bolling asked him to weigh in on an odd moment between his father, President Donald Trump, and Indonesia’s president from earlier in the week.

“I was like, that is very fascinating to me. Can we roll the sound bite of the President of Indonesia, Subianto?” Bolling said as he cut to a clip of Trump and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto caught on a hot mic earlier in the week in Egypt.

While it’s hard to make out much of the audio, it’s clear that Subianto asks Trump to “meet Eric.”

Bolling continued, “So he says, ‘Can I meet Eric?’ And you’re like, ‘Well…’ And your dad, the President, says, ‘I’ll have Eric call you.’ Have you called him? What was that all about?”

“So I’ve got two projects in Indonesia. We did them in 2014, 2015. The most exceptional golf course by far in the country—an amazing place. It goes over these lava chutes on the side of a volcano right outside of Jakarta. And I’ve actually never met the president. And obviously, I think everybody in the country probably knows about the two Trump jobs,” Eric Trump replied, making clear he imagined it was about his business. He added:

We have the other one in Bali. We’re building a great hotel, and that’s going to start very soon. And I never met the president, and I used to go over there quite a bit. And obviously we manage teams over there, and it’s pretty amazing that he knew who I was. And, you know, it’s obviously—I don’t get involved in politics in Indonesia—but when I heard that, I started laughing. “Can I please meet Eric?” He must know the projects very well. And so, you know, we’re very proud of what we did in Indonesia. We’ve been there for, you know, well over a decade. And so, you know, I’m sure he hears about our great success.
