Fox News Guest Says ‘You Can’t Discount’ the ‘Antisemitism Factor’ On The Left In Why Harris Chose Walz Over Shapiro

Josh Kraushaar, the editor in chief of Jewish Insider, joined Fox News on Tuesday to discuss Vice President Kamala Harris choosing Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) as her running mate and the potential implications of snubbing Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro (D) in the process.

“Let’s talk about Doug Emhoff for a moment. The vice president’s husband, he’s obviously the first second gentleman in history. If she prevails in November, he will be the first first gentleman. He will also obviously he’s Jewish. How does that play with the base? Does that meaning does that count towards Harris’s favor? She’s put Josh Shapiro aside now. But her husband is Jewish. How how does it play?” asked Fox’s Gillian Turner.

“Well, look, there may have been some hesitance about making too much of a history-making ticket by by picking Governor Shapiro. That could have been a good decision. Or a factor in their in their decision, I don’t know. I think the bigger factor, Gillian, is that the anti-Israel forces are alive and well and very outspoken within the Democratic Party,” Kraushaar replied, adding:

And they were even before Kamala Harris was on the ticket. The Biden campaign was worried about disruptions in Chicago. There’s an anti-Israel march that’s going to be taking place during during the convention. That’s going to get a lot of attention. So I think the division between the the Squad and the anti-Israel folks in the party and by the way, the delegates are a notch to the left, to the average Democratic voter. So the prospect of Josh Shapiro getting booed, of left wing activists heckling, the the running mate.

That would have been really ugly. It would have been a really bad, image if that was her pick. And that’s how things went. And there was a real risk that that could have happened. So I think you can’t discount the discrimination and the anti-Semitism factor in her in the decision in this election.

Anchor Bill Hemmer followed up, “Republicans are getting on message together, Elise Stefanik, Republican congresswoman out of New York, ‘Waltz was a failed member of Congress. He served several terms in the House, as a failed governor who supported defund the police, BLM that torched the cities of the ground. While Kamala Harris fundraised to bail out violent criminals from prison.’”

“Josh, it’s hard to say at the moment because we’re living through this in real time. It’s hard to say how much this pick matters in 2 or 3 days, because the trend is it goes back to the top of the ticket, and we’re going to get a debate, I would imagine maybe more than one, maybe for the American people. Maybe we get three. Who knows, what Trump and Harris ultimately decide on as these behind-the-scenes debates continue. But how long does the waltz effect last out there before the focus goes back to the top, Kamala Harris?” Hemmer asked.

“Yeah, I mean, the running mate usually doesn’t have that much of a difference in the big picture. But I think for someone who’s as politically new to the scene, relatively speaking, as Vice President Harris is, this was one of her first big decisions. Democrats want to know, is she going to pick someone more to the left or more to the center? How is she going to govern as president if she is elected? And the pick of Walz over Shapiro is a strong, strong signal that she her instincts are to the left, not to the center,” Kraushaar concluded.
